Medieval music has been enjoying a resurgence of interest over the last few decades and, to be palatable in the modern concert hall, has inevitably had to create some new performance practices. Belinda will lead sessions that transform the most minimal of manuscript material into a performance practice accessible to audiences today. The repertoire will be drawn from the popular music of the time, vernacular songs from collections such as the Llibre Vermell de Montserrat, Cantigas de Santa Maria and Laude Spirituali. This repertoire lends itself with ease to choral performance.
